TAKAJAN can defy a 6lb rise and score again under the improving James Rogers. Mark Brisbourne's charge now has course form figures of 2-2-1 and the balance of his form suggests that this trip will serve him better than the six furlongs he won over last time. A mark of 60 of course makes life tougher but he actually started life in handicaps rated in the mid-seventies so there's every hope he can defy the handicapper. Watch Chain is 5lbs higher than when winning here last autumn and, having had just the two starts on the surface, he's capable of better still and rates and huge threat along with My One Weakness, a course and distance winner who blew the start last time before staying on pleasingly. Lordship struggled on his sole start here and has something to prove in terms of the surface so Norcroft is next on the list despite his advancing years.
