        Verdict

        An awful contest and one that can be taken by Safranine, with Wendy's Girl and Forest Knight others to consider. The selection has had her detractors after finishing runner-up on her last three starts, but she can go one better at a track she has won on before. Those recent outings underline the fact that she is in good order, she relishes this minimum trip, and it is just a question of her being able to sustain her effort throughout that final furlong. With question marks about most of the others this is her opportunity to do just that. Topweight Wendy's Girl will have her supporters after her six furlong Wolverhampton success last time, but she is not as effective over this trip, nor at this track, and may be found wanting again. The most interesting of the remainder is Forest Knight. Gaye Kelleway's colt has dropped almost a stone in the ratings and has shown signs that that may soon pay off in recent outings. Any market confidence would surely be significant, so keep an eye out for that, but without that knowledge here we take Safranine to score.
