The maiden that closes the card can go to Golden Applause, with her biggest dangers reckoned to be Iwunder, Rock Chick, Tamalain and, possibly, Mademoiselle. Golden Applause's narrow defeat by Perfect Blend at Windsor last time (Poyle Caitlin is held on that form) rates as solid form in the context of this race and, as she deserves to win a race of this nature, can go well, although the going is an imponderable. Iwunder caught the eye over course and distance on her debut and, with normal improvement, should be in the shake-up. Blue Line's form rates in the low 60s which might be good enough for a place, with Dancinginthedark's form, arguably, being on a par with his, so rate accordingly. Life's A Whirl and Mademoiselle are certainly interesting newcomers, the latter, for us, more so than the former, but watch the betting. Rock Chick's maiden form is fairly solid and she holds claims, while Tamalain has something to prove after upsetting odds-on favourite backers last time. Overall, though, our vote stays with the gutsy Golden Applause.
