In depth

Verdict

Zaharath Al Bustan is proving to be expensive to follow and Mick Channon's filly is probably best left out of calculations in a race that may go to the newcomer Lovingly, who is preferred to Startori. The last mentioned represents trainer Bryan Smart and has found the frame in each of her two starts so far, latterly when a close third behind Sunday Smile at Redcar over this trip. She should be thereabouts again as should Pam Sly's Speciosa, who has shown a consistent level of form. Jeremy Noseda's two-year-olds are running well at the moment and it will be interesting to what Zafarilla can achieve now that she steps up in trip, while Emphasis and Nick's Nikita are both entitled to improve for their debut outings. The vote though goes to Sir Michael Stoute's Lovingly, who takes the eye on breeding being a Grand Lodge half-sister to Love Me Tender out of a dam who was a sister to Oaks winner Love Divine. She would not need to be out of the ordinary to score first time out and gets the vote to do so.
