In depth

Verdict

This is a tight affair, with Waterside tentatively suggested ahead of Will He Wish and Phluke. Unshakable is not far above a winning mark and likes it here, having won twice at the track, albeit over a mile. Irony is also not far above a winning mark and can't be ruled out. Material Witness is closely weighted with him based on recent Chepstow form, but it was only a small field in the contest. Will He Wish is only a pound above a winning mark and, being a course and distance winner (that success having come in this race last year), can't be ruled out. Waterside comes here in good heart, a run that includes a course and distance success, and cannot be ruled out of a bold showing. He also just holds Dry Ice based on their Goodwood meeting. Phluke comes here in good heart and, even though he has been raised four pounds for his latest win, is certainly entitled to some thought. Finally, a return to his best three-year-old form would give Mineral Star very good claims but, for the selection, we will side with Waterside.
