The two-year-old form shown by Thyolo stands out as the best on offer at this stage and the Clive Cox-trained colt is preferred over Putra Sas and Varnay, who head the list of dangers from the remainder of the field. However, Seneschal showed a good deal of ability in two starts last season and it may be a little premature to be giving up on him after his moderate effort on his reappearance at Newbury. As a half-brother to useful chaser Keltic Bard, he should have no problems with a mile in time and is worth monitoring from now on. However, for today, like the rest of the field, he may find one too good in the shape of Thyolo, who is an imposing colt that is open to bags of improvement now that he has started to fill his frame. This stiff mile should be just about right for him this evening and he looks the one to be on at this stage. The absence of the headgear may be an experiment with Varnay, so Putra Sas is taken as the biggest danger to the selection.
