      Verdict

Plenty in with chances in an open heat and Patandon Girl is just preferred ahead of a host of dangers including Scarlet Secret, Captain Hardy, and Landing Strip. Mick Channon's filly is progressing along the right lines and, having finished a promising fourth behind the smart Bonus in a hot Newmarket maiden last month, she scored in good style at Folkestone last time. The daughter of Night Shift had to overcome trouble in running on the latter occasion and looked good value for her winning margin of a length-and-a-quarter over the reopposing Scarlet Secret who looks held despite a 5lb turnaround at the weights. Captain Hardy enjoyed a profitable campaign on the all-weather last winter, winning twice over this trip at Wolverhampton, but looks weighted up to his best at present judged on his more recent efforts back on turf. Landing Strip is still a maiden and lacks a recent outing but remains open to plenty of improvement and his last outing is best forgotten as he failed to stay seven furlongs. The James Eustace-trained gelding shouldn't be underestimated while Victory Vee has been knocking on the door of late and is another to consider from the foot of the handicap.
