In depth

Verdict

Propinquity gets a narrow vote here ahead of Sun Kissed and Golden Fury. The selection looked promising when winning here over seven furlongs on his debut and has confirmed that view in two subsequent runs, including when beaten two lengths into third behind Windsor Knot in a Group 3 contest at Sandown. That rates as solid form, the extra furlong will not hurt and he looks set to go well. Sun Kissed did well to win what turned out to be a bit of a sprint at Newmarket on his debut given that he is bred to be suited by 10 furlongs or more next year. We will learn more about him today, and the form of Golden Fury's third to Windsor Knot at Newmarket on his last run looks even better now given what we mentioned earlier, and he also receives seven pounds from the field. Liakora won here on his debut but then disappointed at Newmarket and is now fitted with cheekpieces and a word or two should be reserved for Solent because, before finishing ninth behind Shamardal at Goodwood, he had beaten Daniel Thomas - a horse that Sun Kissed beat by a neck on his debut - by a length and a quarter at Newmarket. As we say, it's an interesting affair and one that can go to Propinquity.
