In depth

Verdict

Glendown got off the mark at the tenth time of asking when just holding the late challenge of Bryce over course and distance this month. He's proving a consistent handicapper but this poses a slightly tougher question as he goes up a level to Class 5 company. Course and distance scorer, Thornaby Pearl, ran well on seasonal reappearance after a 269-day break, and is down to a mark of 67, which should make him very competitive. However, it is nearly a couple of years since he visited the winner's enclosure and SOUTH DAKOTA SIOUX is preferred. He's notched a couple of successes this term - most recently at Wetherby last month - and things have not gone his way the last twice and are best ignored. He should have no problems in this smaller field and can return to winning ways.
