In depth

Verdict

Rievaulx Valentino, Maahe and Know No Fear all have claims in this maiden but we will give the vote to Geordie Girl. The selection has a good draw here and she certainly showed plenty of promise on her debut when chasing home Thunder Bay at Thirsk. The form of that race has taken a few knocks since but she is sure to come on for her debut and she might just be good enough to get her head in front. Rievaulx Valentino put up a pretty moderate showing on his debut but he left that running behind him when he powered home to finish a close third behind Prime Performer at Beverley last time. However, he does have a tough draw to overcome here and is narrowly passed over for that reason. Maahe is an interesting newcomer from a top yard and is worth a look in the market, while John Quinn does well with his two-year-olds so it would be no surprise to see Know No Fear show up well on his debut. However, Geordie Girl made a pleasing introduction last time and if she can improve for that experience then she should go close.
