This looks no easier to fathom than the consolation race and only one favourite has won in 10 years. David O'Meara has won the last two with Pepper Lane and both Louis The Pious and Dick Bos will be at the forefront of the market and have to be considered, especially the former who followed up his Haydock victory with a fine run in the Stewards' Cup. Richard Fahey has three entered and Tony Hamilton's mount BACCARAT, who has won three of his seven starts to date and was unlucky in-running at York last time, is progressing fast enough to take this valuable prize. David Barron has brought in the talented Irish apprentice Conor Hoban to ride Pearl Ice, who likes it here and was only caught close home by today's rival Spinatrix last time.
