Verdict

A tough handicap in which we will side with course and distance winner Jebel Tariq ahead of Sweet Lightning and Inchwood. A tightly-knit handicap this and there may not be much in it come the line; Jebel Tariq was very impressive when winning at the track in June, so much so that we will give him a chance to atone for his following poor run. That was in a fair handicap but his performance was abject and he needs to bounce back. One worry may be that he didn't beat anything that acted on the ground when successful, and if the form is suspect, then it may pay to side with Inchwood. Michael Jarvis has his horses running well and this son of Dubai Destination was impressive when winning last time out. His second to Warringah reads well and he must be a major player. Keenes Day could be up against it on his seasonal return, so a bigger danger may prove to be Sweet Lightning. He has held his form well this season but has not encountered soft ground yet. Rowan Rio and Blimey O'Reilly are two more to consider in what looks an open race, however it is Jebel Tariq who receives the vote.
