MERCHANT MAN gets the vote in this handicap, although Pattern Mark and Twist Again are others to consider. The selection is lightly raced and it was a good effort on his handicap debut to finish third behind Veroon at Beverley. There should be more to come and he looks capable of scoring off his current mark. Twist Again won well at Nottingham earlier in the month when this longer trip brought about plenty of improvement. She had Pattern Mark behind her that day and as she was good value for her winning margin it is hard to see the form being reversed. Gwyre has shown promise in maiden company and she has to be of interest on her handicap debut. However, for the pick we will nominate Merchant Man.
