DISTINCTIVE ran a blinder on her debut and she sets the standard for the others here; the list of dangers is headed by Pepper Lane and Fantastic Strike. The selection wasn't beaten far in a competitive maiden at York in a race won by Rodrigo De Torres. She missed the break that day so she did well to finish third and she sets the benchmark for the others. Pepper Lane showed up well on her debut but she has looked regressive in her two runs since and we are happy to give her the swerve until she shows a bit more sparkle. Fantastic Strike went off as joint favourite at Carlisle last month but he missed the break and he finished well beaten. He is better than that but he will need to find a fair bit of improvement if he is to trouble the judge. Shi Shan shaped with promise on his debut at Thirsk and he has the benefit of a good draw so he has to be of interest. Cookie Galore and Melundy are interesting newcomers worth a market check, but for the winner we are happy to stick with Distinctive who made such a positive impression on her racecourse bow.
