    Verdict

Not a lot to go on here and Yoshka is respected, but we will take a chance on Mick Channon's Hathlen. The selection should be suited by the extra furlong after staying on strongly over a mile at Thirsk earlier in the month and is clearly still open to further improvement after running green so far on his two racecourse appearances. He hails from a yard in good form and could be one worth following. Yoshka is making his racecourse debut and is well-bred. Like any newcomer from the Mark Johnston yard he merits respect, but the market could be the best guide and will provide us with more clues on the chances of Yoshka making a winning debut. Helensburgh is another Johnston newcomer and again a watching brief on the market is advised here. Of the rest Storm Clouds is upped in trip after being well beaten on his racecourse debut at Chester so could be interesting. Nukhbah will improve for the run at York and is another stepped up in trip, but we are happy to take a chance on Hathlen who seems to be progressing in the right way and could make his racecourse experience count.
