Chicken Soup could hardly have won more impressively when landing a Chester handicap by five lengths last time and a 6lb penalty should not be enough to prevent Tim Pitt's gelding from following up which he is taken to do at the main expense of Carnivore and Confide. The last mentioned should be coming here on the back of three wins out of her last four starts and would be doing so but for Robert Winston's much-publicized error at Carlisle; however, the handicapper has punished Alan Swinbank's gelding for those efforts and he may have to settle for a minor role today. The Alan Jarvis-trained Cross The Line has been running well on the Polytrack of late and, despite having winning form on a fast surface, may be better with more cut in the ground. Yorkshire Blue has shown improved form over six furlongs of late and it will be interesting to see if he can carry the progression over the extra furlong today. Carnivore was good value for his win at Newcastle last time and cannot be discounted under his penalty but preference is for Chicken Soup, who has an obvious chance on Chester form to win this.
