Even by sellers' standards this is a poor race, but something's got to win it, and we think the most likely is SWINBROOK, but Dream Theme and Northern Empire could also have a say in the outcome. Richard Fahey's gelding won a handicap and a claimer at Southwell in March over slightly further, but couldn't follow up those successes. The draw here should help, but only one of his six career wins have been over the minimum trip and that was five years ago. Dream Theme hasn't won for nearly three years, but has been placed in his last couple of runs in similar contests, albeit over further. A progressive step down in trip could be the key here for Dandy Nicholls' runner, who's the highest rated in the field. Northern Empire has his first run on turf for more than six months, after paying his way without being spectacular on the all-weather, winning a poor claimer three runs back. He's got a tendency to pull hard, and the low draw here won't help. Half the field have won over five furlongs, including the selection, which is Swinbrook.
