IL WARRD bounced back to form with a fine second last time in a good quality listed contest and the three year-old should possess too much quality for these. The winner of the Easter Stakes earlier this season, he was a fine second in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, a re-production of which would see him land this easily. He remains relatively lightly raced and could be a type to make into a high class four year-old at this trip. His main danger on paper looks to be his stablemate Dijeerr. He made a belated seasonal debut at Newmarket two months ago before finding the smart Atlantic Sport too strong at Sandown last time. The slow early pace at Sandown would not have suited him especially as the race was over seven furlongs. He is rated identically to his stable companion but based on recent form, Il Warrd would look the first string. Scuffle is improving at a rate of knots and given her rating connections have been left with little option but to step her into pattern company. Her inexperience might just count against her in a field like this though. Francesco D'Gorgio looked to get outpaced at a vital stage last weekend at Ascot but is certainly a place contender. Damika was two places behind Dijeerr at Sandown and it is difficult to envisage Richard Whitaker's charge reversing the form. Il Warrd is selected to win this listed contest.
