In depth

Verdict

It's difficult to evaluate the form of Double Double, who was involved in a farcical race at Naas when the leader was allowed to go well clear. However, Charles O'Brien's charge eventually ran out an impressive winner and will have come on for the experience. Nicky Henderson won the race in 2005 with Its A Dream so the presence of his Sizing Ireland must be respected even though he disappointed when favourite on his racecourse debut at Huntingdon. Rebecca Curtis has been making a name for herself in the UK and has excelled with her runners in these races. The booking of top rider Derek O'Connor for SCOTER FONTAINE catches the eye and this French-bred may have more pace than many of his rivals. Willie Mullins has won this twice in the last four years and everything he saddles in bumpers will be competitive so Earls Quarter is another to watch out for. Noel Meade's French-bred filly Tinabianca is related to winners on the flat and over jumps and is another to keep an eye on for the future.
