led 1f, chased winner until halfway, ridden and weakened over 1f out
close up, chased winner halfway, pressed winner and every chance over 1f out, no extra inside final furlong
Unless George Margarson's Suzy Alexander improves dramatically for her debut outing as a juvenile at Yarmouth when last of 12 runners this really looks to be a match between CURTAINS and Blue Zephyr with preference for the former. The selection was disqualified after winning a maiden here in June having had a banned substance found subsequently in a sample but she later went on to run a decent third behind Jira in the Empress Stakes at Newmarket later in the month and a reproduction of that form would see her tough to beat on her reappearance. Willie Muir's Blue Zephyr showed promise on his only start as a two-year-old and has run to a useful level of form in four starts this term so he rates the main threat to the selection, Curtains.
Blue Zephyr 14-1 (8-13) Mid-division, ridden halfway, headway over 1f out, stayed on to go 3rd near finish, 3rd of 12, 4l behind Sir Frank Wappat (9-0) at Kempton 6f 3yo hcp 0-70 (5) pol in Mar.
Curtains 10-1 (8-12) Tracked leader, every chance when carried left from over 1f out, no extra towards finish, 4th of 10, 1 1/4l behind Jira (8-12) at Newmarket 6f 2yo lst fll (1) gd in Jun.
Suzy Alexander 66-1 (9-0) Mid-division, effort halfway, soon beaten, last of 12, 31l behind Decorative (9-0) at Yarmouth 6f 2yo stks (5) gf in Aug.
