In depth

Verdict

Just 10 runners line up here but it is a very tricky contest, with Mambina just having the edge over Mrs Pankhurst and Tytheknot. Mick Channon's charge cut no ice on the all-weather after a promising debut run at Newmarket in November, but back on the turf at Warwick last time she put in a much better display finishing fourth behind Bill Bennet in a competitive handicap. Today's opposition if anything looks slightly weaker and so he looks to have very strong claims. Tytheknot is improving with each run and was only beaten three lengths by John Dunlop's Baffle at Haydock last time . This is his first venture into handicaps and he looks on a fair mark. Mrs Pankhurst will strip a lot fitter after finishing a close up fifth behind Mutafanen at Doncaster last month and will be difficult to keep out of the frame. Also worth a mention is the improving Woody Valentine, but Mambina looks well treated and gets our vote.
