DAREDEVIL DAN looks to hold solid claims of landing this and is selected accordingly, in preference to Simonside and Stateside. Mark Tompkins' gelding ran a big race behind Raptor at Yarmouth last time, in the process pulling clear of the third. That effort marked him down as one to follow and he's been found a very winnable race here, so he can get off the mark at the seventh attempt. Simonside has been running well of late and has claims off a fair rating, the concern being he surely wants further than this. If you've backed him, hope for a positive ride - tactics that have paid off in the past. In contrast Stateside has been out of form but anything Richard Fahey sends out needs attention. He's back down to a favourable mark, enjoys quick ground and is one of very few here who have their ideal conditions. Patavium is opposable despite a big run last time as he may struggle to go the pace dropping in trip, so of more interest is Andorn returning to the flat off a fair mark with quickening conditions to suit. Sri Kuantan has gone well fresh and enjoys quick ground but has a rather inconsistent profile so we'll side with the progressive Daredevil Dan.
