In depth

Verdict

The opening maiden stakes looks between Hero Worship, Raslan and Disco Lights with a slight preference for Raslan. He was second in a Lingfield maiden last month and represents the Mark Johnston stable. He is clearly well regarded and holds a Derby entry. He looks capable of winning a race like this and is our selection in the opener. Disco Lights has shown promise in similar races but is still a maiden after five races, Frankie is in the saddle today but she may well have to settle for minor honours again. Of those making their racecourse debut, Hero Worship is perhaps the most interesting. He is a 75,000 guineas son of Kalanisi and he is one for the short-list but we will side with experience and Raslan remains our pick.
