In a modest opener Axis Shield should be good enough to beat Saxon Star and True Valentine. The selection hasn't raced since December when a close up fourth behind Aysgarth Flyer, but she does appear to go best when fresh. She has bundles of early speed and so the drop back to five furlongs should suit and she can make all under Jean-Pierre Guillambert. Saxon Star hasn't really progressed this year but certainly has claims on the pick of last season's form. An extra furlong wouldn't go amiss here but he should still be involved in the finish. True Valentine hasn't raced since last July but did show signs of ability. She is making her all-weather debut today and if she handles the surface she should be in th shake up. Katie Killane looks the pick of the others, but in a very weak affair Axis Shield could be the best option.
