In a very competitive finale Celtic Ruffian is just preferred to Wave Back and and Nite Fox. Richard Rowe's seven-year-old is obviously no stable star as he gets in here on bottom weight, but he has shown enough this season to warrant close inspection. He ran a decent second to Martin Pipe's Tanterari in December, and wasn't beaten far behind Unusual Suspect over course and distance last time. He finished just over a length behind today's rival Wave Back, but looked in need of that outing following a two month break and should improve. Nite Fox is a bit of an in and out performer, but did look back to his best last time when chasing home Diletia at Huntingdon last time, if on a going day he should be involved in the finish here. Bdellium should prove best of the others, but in a very open affair Celtic Ruffian may just have the edge.
