BAGUENAUD is the selection with Sculastic and Regent's Secret sure to have their supporters. Gordon Elliott looks to have campaigned his five-year-old very much with this race in mind and the booking of Paul Carberry appears very much to confirm that impression. He probably was overdone on the waiting tactics last time out at Downpatrick but if the money's down today, it is unlikely to be left behind. Sculastic has not been disgraced on the flat this summer. He has performed modestly in Northern novices last term but landed a gamble for connections on Boxing Day at Sedgefield. Regent's Secret was well held at Cartmel on his most recent start over hurdles. Jim Goldie's dual purpose horse is nevertheless a previous winner here so it would be folly to discount him so quickly. Storm Prospect won a claiming hurdle though was below par here in July. Calculaite has ability though his form tailed off badly last season. Dark Energy steps up in grade having won decisively at Huntingdon in August. A fascinating affair in which Baguenaud is the selection.
