In depth

Verdict

Morning Vicar was a winner at Newbury in November and his last two runs have been at the Cheltenham Festival and in the Topham at Aintree in which he unseated his rider. Collooney also won in the autumn but he’s lost his way since but Laura Morgan has transformed the fortunes of Fire Away, who is now on a four-timer though raised a further 11lb since Catterick and with a bit to prove on this quicker surface. Apart from when finding soft ground against him at Musselburgh at the turn of the year, Mint Gold has been very consistent this season but is not proven over this extra half-mile. CAPTAIN BLACKPEARL was still travelling when unseating his rider at Haydock last month and he remains open to further improvement having only run seven times.
