From a shortlist of Summer Special, Lahib The Fifth, Buttress, Blackthorne and Jordans Spark in the opener, we will select Summer Special. Summer Special is the highest-rated of these, of those to have achieved a hurdling rating and his form is solid, so he gets a big mention, although you will have to forgive a poor run here last time if supporting him. The Hexham bumper winner, Lahib The Fifth, looked promising based on that performance, and he warrants respect from a good stable, while Howards Dream has 12 lengths to find with Summer Special based on course and distance form of early June, although that run came on heavy going. Buttress is steadily improving and is not far behind Summer Special on ratings, and neither is Blackthorne, who will be fit from a recent Flat run. They are both given strong mentions in a race where it might pay to follow the market. Finally, Ring Street Roller showed improvement from his first run here last time, but the bare form leaves her with a bit more to find in order to score, but Hamilton 9-furlong claimer winner Jordans Spark gets consideration on his hurdling debut. Overall, though, we will nominate Summer Special, but keep a close eye on the betting.
