Verdict

Digger Derek and RECESSION PROOF both come into this on the back of good wins last week but the former has yet to prove that he stays this far so preference is for Simon Callaghan's colt, who is taken to follow up his comfortable Wolverhampton handicap debut success and he gets the vote over Security Joan. Richard Hannon's filly is less exposed than most of her opponents after just four starts, latterly in a Bath maiden, and she has to be respected on her first start in a handicap. Meydan Groove ran better in a Wolverhampton seller last time but may find the opposition here too testing, while Deal Clincher seems a shade high in the weights at present. John Dunlop's Mawjaat would need to improve on the form shown in a Goodwood nursery last time to take a hand here and Hip Hip Hooray is far from certain to stay this far. There are no such doubts for Recession Proof though and he should take all the beating if able to translate the form of his latest start at Wolverhampton back to turf.
