Mark Johnston complicates matters by saddling two runners here in Cubism and Sydney Cove but it will be a surprise if either are good enough to get the better of UNION ISLAND, who sets a fair standard and he gets the vote. Kevin Ryan's colt has run well in all three starts be it on soft or fast ground, earning a rating of 84 and a reproduction of earlier form will make him tough to beat. Sir Michael Stoute's Jedi was well held on his debut in a decent Newmarket maiden but he should have learned form that and has to be considered, along with Michael Bell's Halfway House who may do better on this more testing ground. Bryan Smart's Radegund Abbey ran better at Newcastle last time and he makes more appeal than Luca Cumani's Cygnet, who was beaten some way on his Sandown debut. There are several interesting runners in the field here but Union Island sets the standard and he gets the vote.
