Flipando has been knocking on the door lately, and is taken to come good at the expense of Habshan, Samuel Charles and Diamonds And Dust. David Barron is having a terrific season, and looks all set to add to his tally here with Flipando, who was being earmarked for a crack at next week's Royal Hunt Cup. The five-year-old is still in the entries but is highly unlikely to make the cut, so with that in mind, connections have probably made the right decision in opting for easier pickings here. Mind you, this ¿14,000 race is not to be sniffed at, and on the evidence of his latest efforts, Flipando should make a bold bid. Jimmy Fortune has appeared to give him too much to do on each of his last two outings, at Epsom and Haydock, the son of Sri Pekan finishing hot on the heels of the leaders both times, and it is hoped that Kevin Darley will have him a bit nearer the pace this time. Habshan ran well when second in a class 4 at Yarmouth last time but will find this much tougher, while Samuel Charles has a penalty to carry and is another with a lot on his plate. Diamonds and Dust improved for first-time blinkers when third at Folkestone, but will have to find even more to trouble Flipando who can finally get the win that he deserves, and he is a confident selection.
