Sudden Edge gets a tentative vote, with Russian Rocket, Monte Major and Kennington just a few lively dangers. There are plenty in with chances here, but Sudden Edge may have more to offer after three promising outings last season. Henry Candy's gelding begins his handicap career on a fair mark, and although he will probably be stepped up in trip as time goes on, today's six furlongs is just about as far as he wants. He is drawn high in stall 17, and if the pace is on the stands side, he should run a big race. Russian Rocket had Saville's Delight behind in fifth when runner-up to Bens Georgie at Windsor last time, and although more cut in the ground would be a bonus, he too is expected to make his presence felt. Monte Major was second in a Banded race at Kempton, which at first glance does not look good enough, but he is improving of late so should not be totally discounted, while Kennington has the burden of topweight but is useful on his day. Mozakhraf has been disappointing in truth, but with Kevin Ryan firing home the winners, he has to be mentioned as well. All in all, this is a very tricky race from a punting perspective, and only a small wager on Sudden Edge is advised.
