BAJAN PRIDE can land the closing contest ahead of Whipma Whopma Gate, with Four Kicks and Alfredtheordinary others to consider in a tight race. Our selection should benefit for dropping down in distance having made smooth headway last time only to be outstayed late on. Richard Fahey's string remain in rude health and this son of Selkirk has won over today's distance, whilst pilot Marzena Jeziorek has ridden winners and was on board last time, so there are few concerns in terms of her ability to get the job done. We'd have liked our selection to have landed a better draw but he appears to be tactically versatile and looks progressive enough to get the vote. Whipma Whopma Gate landed a touch on Monday when winning stylishly at Warwick. Conditions that day were pretty testing so any rain will do her chances no harm and jockey Richard Evans has more experience than many here. Under a penalty she has to be considered along with Four Kicks who was just denied at Brighton last time. Stan Moore's filly is less exposed than most of these having had just nine starts and this step back up to a mile could well open the door to further progress. Alfredtheordinary completes the shortlist with his consistency counting for plenty in a race like this. It has to be said he's a maiden on turf after 15 starts but he's placed a couple of times and should pick up a small race at some point. Portrush Storm hasn't been harshly punished for a win last time but a mile is this mare's minimum and we prefer the claims of Bajan Pride.
