Verdict
The feature event of the day and it has attracted quite a decent field. Godolphin have landed this contest twice in the last five years and they are strongly represented with two runners. However, both their contenders look opposable for obvious reasons and Moynahan is given the vote after a satisfactory re-appearance in the 2000 Guineas. The Irish version confirmed that this years renewal at Newmarket was top class. Moynahan could never get on terms with the principals after been held-up early on. The worry would be that this could turn out a tactical affair which would not suit but he is selected on the basis that he will have too much class for these. Army Of Angels makes his seasonal debut here after twelve months off the course. He is very lightly raced for a 6yr old but goes well with 'give' in the ground which is a positive given the 48 hr going description. Whether he has the ability to deal with a relatively unexposed colt half his age is the question. The remainder appear to have it all to do and Moynahan is the vote.
