Bold Cross, Catbang, Rebellious Spirit and Woolly Bully make the short list, with the vote going to Bold Cross. Bold Cross rattled the bar on more than one occasion last season and, having had a seasonal pipe-opener and running off what seems a fair mark, he can go well today. A couple of good runs over shorter trips suggest that Catbang is improving and, stepping up in trip today, he can go well in a modest heat. Croft has shown bits of form, as has Lucky Lover, while a repeat of his narrow Leicester second on Saturday would put Woolly Bully right in the shake-up. Having run his best race to date over course and distance last time, Rebellious Spirit looks to be one of the leading players today, even from a slightly higher mark than on that day, while Temperance is a horse that we can see improving this time around. Lady Lochinvar could start handicaps on a reasonable mark, while, having shown improved form at a mile and a half last time, it is surprising to see Vehari dropping in trip today, and Tiptoeing has failed to build on his autumn promise in two subsequent starts. Once again, then, the selection is Bold Cross.
