Smalib Monterg is always kept back for a summer campaign by the Newland team but is now 27lb higher than when joining the yard in the spring of 2012. He's been off for over 300 days but will be dangerous if ready to roll first time despite top weight. Frozen Over and Going Concern are not discounted from the foot of the handicap but CANADIAN DIAMOND may just be too good despite having not posted a victory in the past year. He's delivered a series of good efforts in better contests than this and looks a major player if forgiven an unusually poor run last time. Rock On Rocky looks the prime threat as he's improved steadily over his last four starts in pleasing fashion, handles the ground and looks on a fair mark for this handicap bow.
