A competitive novices contest gets proceedings underway and as usual in these events the market will be very informative but the principals look to be Sad Times, Swagger and Tension Point and the tentative vote is given to Swagger. The selection is having his first run for Martin Pipe having won a handicap in good style over 13 furlongs on his last start for Alan Dickman. He is sure to have been well schooled for this his hurdling debut and under conditions that suit he looks the one to be on. Sad Times won well on her debut when beating Bluecorp Boy. However this looks tougher and she looks vulnerable under her penalty. Tension Point is game and consistent and is sure to run his race but he looked wayward when third behind Strikeen last time. Of the others Keycavern won a claimer on the flat on her only start to date and is another to note in the market while Miss Saafend Plaza hails from a shrewd yard and should be watched in the market but for the winner we are happy to return to Swagger.
