Manx Royal is hard to oppose here and gets the clear vote, with Mevagissey nominated to prove best of the rest. The selection has raced just twice but the first of these came in a Graded event at Aintree. Clearly no back number, he set about proving the point by scoring in fine style at Uttoxeter last time out. That sets the benchmark at which that they all have to aim and, with the others having revealed very little in the way of talent, it could be left to the Jimmy Frost-trained Mevagissey, who was at least introduced to racing at a venue such as Ascot, to chase him home.
