In this race, it would be wise to pay heed to the betting market but maybe Alan King's Incursion can get the better of some interesting opponents, who include Olimpo, Avesomeofthat, Wood Lord, Schapiro and Theocritus. The selection won a 10-furlong Windsor maiden on soft going in May and, if able to transfer that type of form to hurdling, must be considered for this interesting contest. Pontefract maiden winner Schapiro fell on his hurdling debut but looked held at the time. However, better was clearly expected and it would be folly to write-off his chances today. French import Olimpo ran modestly on his British debut but, having shown promise in his native land, is another to consider. Wood Lord is a French winner who is surely better than he showed on his British debut, while there is not too much between La Lambertine and Sylvie d'Orthe on French form but the former has shown more in this country so far and has also to be considered. Sylvie d'Orthe ran modestly on her British debut, and was just behind Sir Frank Gibson in that contest, but Thoecritus has some very interesting breeding so watch the betting for clues with regard to this one's chances. Finally, Avesomeofthat showed some promise on the Flat and, with breeding that would suggest two miles over hurdles should be within his compass, his chance cannot be dismissed out of hand. As we say, it's an interesting contest, and, if the market vibe is good, it just might go to Incursion.
