In depth

Verdict

Star Of The East is likely to have gleaned considerable benefit from his run at Newcastle and is on a decent mark. Twice a winner over 1m6f on the July course here, Mark Johnston’s charge is worth a market check. Charlie D has been a model of consistency over the last 12 months but is on a career-high mark at present. There are, however, possibilities about enigmatic stayer Platitude under a 5lb claimer and also SPEEDO BOY. It’s exactly a year since the top weight last set foot on the track but he has gone well fresh in the past and the booking of Ryan Moore catches the eye. Pianissimo is preferred to Island Brave of the others.
