Mark Johnston's Alcalde has shown improved form with each start this term and ran a fine race in defeat in a valuable lady riders' race at York last time when finding just Desert Recluse too good but he may have to settle for minor honours again with a better bet looking to be VIVA VETTORI, who is preferred to Tinshu. The Derek Haydn Jones-trained filly has done little wrong this term, running a fair third in both races since dead-heating at Windsor on her reappearance and she should be thereabouts again. David Elsworth's Classic Punch is more than capable of taking a hand in the finish here and did run better on the Polytrack at Kempton at the beginning of the month but he is proving to be hard to win with and may be best watched. Gary Moore's Kavachi probably needs some help from the handicapper and of more interest may be Michael Attwater's Ramona Chase, who ran his best race for some time when a close up second behind Fiery Lad at Epsom recently and he has solid claims off just a 2lb higher mark today. David Elsworth's Viva Vettori won a Listed race at Kempton in February and ran his best race since then when narrowly beaten by Tartan Gigha at Newmarket last month. The winner that day franked that form with a decent success on Thursday and Viva Vettori can frank it further today.
