Ancient Lights is taken to make a winning debut, perhaps at the expense of fellow newcomer Meethaaq. The two to have raced haven't looked to be anything out of the ordinary on the limited evidence to hand and this looks ripe for picking by a newcomer. Ancient Lights has been given an entry in a Group 2 contest at Royal Ascot and that may be an indication that he has been pleasing in his work at home. He still has to do it on the track though even if that is the case although it does bode well that the yard won this with a useful sort in Tranquil Tiger last year. Henry Cecil also saddles Seventh Cavalry who is related to winners but it may not pay to read too much into the unusual booking of Ryan Moore. Luca Cumani saddles two interesting runners with Kossack arguably the first string on jockey bookings although both make plenty of appeal on paper. Meethaaq was a relatively expensive purchase, has a decent American pedigree, represents top connections and clearly has to be respected but we'll take Ancient Lights to show why he's been given that Pattern race entry.
