This is a classy handicap as the quality of the card steadily improves, and Portodora is taken to follow up a good win last time at the expense of Sams Secret and Oat Cuisine. Sam's Secret ran up a hat trick of wins on fast ground last season and has been running consistently without winning this term. She is in good heart judged by a recent second but the suspicion is that she is in the handicapper's grip at present. Oat Cuisine is five pounds higher than when beating subsequent winner Princess Taylor recently, and that was the first time she has encountered fast ground. She looks certain to go close. Portodora shwoed promise in both her starts as a juvenile and showed class and battling qualities to lose her maiden tag at the Chester Cup meeting. She can be expected to progress and may have been let in on a lenient mark here for her handicap bow. Portodora can win again.
