Luberon can defy topweight in the nursery, with Faith And Reason, Renderoc and Gracechurch all set to make him work hard. Trainer Mark Johnston never wastes his trips to headquarters, and in Luberon he has the right ammunition to plunder more prize money. The son of Fantastic Light was beaten on his nursery bow at Musselburgh the time before last, but bounced back to make all at Ayr in novice stakes company just five days ago. Stepped up to a mile and asked to crack out and make all, he did the business in fine style, and with Greg Fairley's presence in the saddle offsetting a six-pound penalty, he should once again make them all go. Faith And Reason did not take long to make his mark, scoring at the second attempt at Lingfield in July. He only scraped home that day but gets around a stone from the selection here so has to be on the short-list. Renderoc has the experience, having already won twice, while Gracechurch had nothing to beat at Bath last time but is going the right way. Supreme Charter gives Johnston a strong hand here, but preference is very much for his stablemate Luberon.
