    Verdict

With none of those to have raced so far appearing to be anything special, Achill Bay may get the better of fellow newcomer Pearly King, with Deyaree and Ebraam likely to be supported as well. In a difficult race to sort out, the market should be closely watched, but on the strength of some encouraging news from the training grounds, the Godolphin debutante Achill Bay is selected. The son of Peintre Celebre is entered for next year's Derby and will be expected to go close. Pearly King is also highly regarded and has the assistance of Kieren Fallon so should give a good account, while Deyaree has caught the eye on Mick Channon's gallops of late. Ebraam looks a nice sort on breeding, bring a half-brother to Hayil, and has been pencilled in for the Dewhurst. He too can figure in the finish if forward enough, but the best recommendation here is to keep bets to a minimum, with Achill Bay the pick.
