Decameron, Kal Barg and Resurge are the three that make most appeal in order of preference but a big run from Liberation Spirit in the opener would enhance the claims of Regal Best. The selection wasn't given too hard a time of things on his introduction run at Yarmouth when beaten just under 2 lengths behind Lazy Days and Missioner but better was expected next time when he was turned over at a short price. The winner of that race is also held in high esteem though and he made no mistake at the third time of asking. He will need further than this in time and the handicapper hasn't exactly been lenient but he's progressing well and may just prove up to the task. Kal Barg has more experience under his belt but can be expected to improve now that he steps up to a mile for the first time. He hasn't quite lived up to lofty expectations yet but has run some sound races and remains one to be interested in. Regal Best had Liberation Spirit back in fourth when winning at Goodwood but this is tougher and we prefer the claims of Resurge. Noseda's colt has done everything asked of him so far and has crept in on a fair mark for his handicap bow and should go well. Always A Rock will find life harder in this company but the trainer is adept at bringing about steady improvement in his horses so he can't be ruled out but we expect Decameron to be the central player in this chapter.
