Verdict
John Gosden saddles two runners in this maiden with the newcomer Riot Police, who is by Street Cry, looking the pick of the pair over Liberty Cap but it is RUTTERKIN that gets the vote. The selection is one of three runners in the race trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni but he is the one with experience having looked as though he would come on for the run after his debut at Goodwood last month when slowly away and never able to get into contention on ground probably softer than ideal. Al Zarooni is also represented by Freehand and Introvert, who may be best watched first time out, while Maratib is likely to do better for the run. Prince Freddie would probably prefer softer ground and of more interest may be Michael Bell's Star Surprise, a son of Dubawi out of a King's Best mare and it will be interesting to see if there is any support for him in the market. The experience of Rutterkin may just be enough to see him get the better of some potentially interesting newcomers.
