Another difficult race for punters but it could be worth taking a chance on CAPTAIN BRILLIANCE, while Transcend, Lowther and Stalking Shadow are all respected. The selection has not been seen since winning over 6f here in August 2007, when his performance was one of authority in a maiden. Presumably whatever has ailed him in the interim is now well in the past and his trainer is certainly capable of readying one to win after an absence. A sound surface will suit him well and a mark of 90 looks reasonable given those who he ran against previously, so we will put him forward. Transcend remains on the same mark as when beaten here on slower ground last time, but he is more battle hardened than the selection and looks likely to be ultra-competitive once more. Lowther has won two of his three outings for Alan Bailey including a handicap over this trip at Chester last time. A 6lb penalty for that success gives him a bit more to do tonight in a more competitive heat. Godolphin's Stalking Shadow has been dropped 2lbs since a slightly disappointing effort at Yarmouth but the return to this trip may well be a positive for those thinking of investing their hard-earned. Rum Jungle has picked up a couple of races over this distance and handles most ground. He looked badly in need of his reappearance and we should see much more from him here. Indian Art has found winning a handicap beyond him to date and from today's mark he has another arduous task and we prefer the claims of Captain Brilliance.
