      Verdict

Transcend gets the call over Classira and Ascalon in division two of the maiden, with Silver Suitor one for the future as well. Transcend made a promising reappearance at Nottingham in April when second to Ea, and although John Gosden's Derby entry will be seen to better effect over further in time, he can make experience count, having had two educational outings as a juvenile. Classira also caught the eye when staying on well to be second on her Nottingham bow at the start of this month, and as she holds entries in both the Oaks and Coronation Stakes, is obviously well thought of and can go on to better things. Whether she is good enough to beat the colt today is open to question though. Silver Suitor, by Swain and running in the Lochsong colours, will no doubt be placed to good effect over further in time, but today, the experience of Transcend can prove vital.
