The market can guide us here, with four debutantes and a clutch of runners with little experience, but we'd be encouraged by support in the ring for PENITENT, who gets the nod ahead of Truly Asia and Equinine. Willie Haggas has got his string in fine form, and after being runner up on debut when staying on really well over six furlongs, this step up in trip should be seen as a positive for Penitent. Related to a number of winners at this sort of trip, he should be losing his maiden tag sooner rather than later, and a repeat of that effort at Doncaster with some juice in the ground could be enough. Truly Asia cost connections 160,000 Guineas and looks to be improving, with two runs to his name. Equinine cost less than half that and is the most experienced with five runs to date, the most promising of which was her seasonal debut last time out when placed in a lower grade race over this distance at Newbury. Any support for any of the newcomers should be noted, and the pick of the debutants may prove to be Mark Johnston's El Ameen, but our preference is for Penitent.
